Lorna Valcin is a Senior Associate in our Kingston office. She is the head of the Kingston Litigation Department and assists Tony Sutton, partner in charge of the Commercial Litigation Department.

Lorna has a general civil litigation background covering various areas of law, but now specialises in employment and immigration law.  However, her experience in other areas means that she has been known to take on disputes outside of her specialism where required and is able to offer sensible advice to others within her department and to clients whose matters do not fall within one specific area.

Lorna’s specialist areas enjoy some overlap in terms of the ever increasing migration into the UK for the purposes of employment and the two fields have in common the vast array of legislation and case law which mean that there are always exciting developments in both areas.

Lorna is proud to be able to be able to say that her experience in the legal field has sprouted from very small beginnings as her first job was as a legal secretary in Chancery Lane.  It is her love of the law that spurned her on to study and become an Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) and then qualify as a solicitor in 1998.  Having qualified through this route, Lorna brings with her a wealth of experience, both in terms of the law and her ability to relate to and interact with her clients and of course the ability and drive to work hard to achieve the expectations of her clients.

Highlights include being invited to teach immigration law at Kingston College on the ILEX course, a source of great achievement having qualified via the route of legal executive. 

Another highlight is being asked to stand as Chair for the Association of Women Solicitors (AWS) London Region.
