Travel and Tourism
The latest Government statistics show that UK residents take approximately 66.5 million trips abroad each year. It is thought that at least 2/3 of those are holidaymakers. There has been consistent growth in travel abroad in the last 20 years and numbers have more than trebled during that time. It is also clear that we are prepared to travel further, with Africa in particular enjoying extensive growth in holidaymakers. It seems that the people of the UK have the travel bug and the fact that we are more adventurous, have more disposable income and are fitter later in life, means that the numbers are likely to continue to increase. This has obvious implications for all the travel related industries.
